Today was my first day back at work. It went okay. I wore my black outfit and my goatee. People looked at me oddly, as if they could tell something was different, but they weren't quite sure what it was. Compared to the first time I wore it at Clarion (to the meeting with Shawna) there was virtually no reaction at all. I'm not quite sure what to make of that.
Tomorrow I'll wear the Clarion t-shirt.
I got right back to work. I had a document to read in the morning for an afternoon review. While we were waiting for the last person to show up at the meeting, I pointed out the document was not a story, had no plot, no dramatic structure, and characters that were two-dimensional at best.
They didn't seem to think it was as funny as I did.
The galley proofs for my story in Bones of the World arrived today. The copy editor did a good job. I read the whole thing aloud to Jackie without finding any errors, except for a couple instances of bad hyphenation.
I didn't get any writing done today. After work we had dinner and then watched "Angel" (a re-run, the one where Lindsey points out that he has "evil-hand issues").
On the Clarion list, the pieces of mail from each person as they arrive home have been trickling in. Good to see that everyone is getting home safely.
