I try not to have sympathy for writers who don't have time to write. I try not to have sympathy for myself, when I don't have time to write. If you're a writer, you make time to write. It's what being a writer is.
The thing is, though, it's not really the time. It's the energy--especially the creative energy. When I have the energy, I can write any time--before work in the morning, over my lunch break, before dinner, after dinner, before going to bed. With my energy all spent at work, I waste time that could be spent writing.
Still, things are coming together at work. A large part of my code is running now; I'll be in a position to start gathering the data I'm trying to collect soon, perhaps as early as tomorrow.
