Good writing today. I wrote a big chunk of chapter 2. I also made some notes for scenes I've thought of. That wasn't so much because I thought I'd forget as it was to let me relax and stop worrying that I might forget.
Nobody answered my questions about how a future American might handle poor people. That's okay--I can do my own world building.
It's more coincidence than good planing, but the library just came up with Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, that I'd had on hold for a while. It's a fascinating look at how people get by (or don't) working at low-paying jobs. It's a topic I'm interested in, wholly aside from it being relevant to my book.
If, perchance, you're interested in the topic too, another good book is Illusions of Opportunity by John E. Schwarz.
The Cardinals won it in three! They're my dad's home team (he grew up in southern Illinois). Where I grew up everybody was a Detroit Tigers fan, but it was always the Cardinals for us.
