I finished a draft of my story! I'm not normally quite so excited by this, but it's been a long time since I finished a new story.

The story came in at 4300 words, so that's 800 new words today. I tightened up the scene I'd written yesterday, wrote the confrontation scene, and then wrote the final scene. It all went very smoothly.

I'm pretty pleased with the confrontation scene. It wasn't so hard to write. I'll have to do more of that.

I'll let the story sit overnight, and then make a pass through it cleaning up rough spots, and then deliver it to the local writing group. We're going to meet Sunday, for the first time in a long time. This story is getting in a bit late, but maybe people will be able to read it anyway. If not, we can save it for the next meeting.

I'm not sure what I'll do next.

I'm pretty sure I ought to revise one of a number of stories I've got that have been critiqued but haven't been rewritten and submitted. I've been kind of stuck on that lately. I think the problem is that I feel like the stories have great promise, but that I haven't gotten them right yet. I need to get over that. I need to just revise them, do the best I can, and get them out. Endlessly reworking stories is one of the classic failure modes. Endlessly meaning to get around to reworking stories without actually doing so is probably another.

Still, I rather feel like I'm on a roll. It's been a while. It feels good.
