I've been thinking about the comments I got on my story.

One thing I clearly need to do is make the society clearer. It's a lot like our society, but it should have been changed somewhat by the sfinal idea I used. The results of those changes need to be sketched in very lightly. I think I can do that a way that not only paints a vivid picture, but also answers most of the questions people had about one thing and another.

The other thing I need to do is make the characters a little more distinct. (I was accused of making all the characters like me.)

Even though I said I wasn't going to bicycle to work on Monday, I did anyway. The weather met my criteria (7:00 AM temperature above 50°F, chance of rain less than 30%) and I was up in time, so I just went. It was great, although my butt hurt a lot, especially on the way home. It took half the ride before it got numb enough that I could sit down.

Today Jackie and I lifted, and then I ran after work. I did (most of) a second lap around the lake, bringing it to about 2 miles.
